Located in the Delta’s renowned Moremi Game Reserve in the north-eastern corner of Chief’s Island – once a tribal leader’s hunting ground – Wilderness Mombo today is a beacon of ecotourism, leaving a light footprint in paradise. With its mix of habitats attracting large herds, followed by numbers and varieties of predators, discover why Mombo, is truly the "Mother of all Camps".

The Mombo Wildlife Area has been known for generations as the “Place of Plenty” by the Bayei people. Highlighted by the massive concentrations of plains game and predators that live here. These include all the big cats, of which  sightings of lions are frequent. Leopards, spotted hyaenas, large herds of buffalos, elephants, giraffes, blue wildebeest, Burchell's zebras and more abound; while cheetahs, and African wild dogs sometimes move through the area. Or perhaps glimpse one of Africa’s rarer species: a pangolin or honey badger.

Rebuilt in 2018, repurposing much of the material, Wilderness Mombo flagship camp maintains the integrity of its pristine environment through the use of natural materials, minimal human footprint and 100% solar status. Elevated on wooden decks beneath towering mangosteen and fig trees, Wilderness Mombo overlooks a spectacular floodplain teeming with wildlife. Eight elegant, expansive guest suites celebrate the history and traditions of the legendary original camp. Each suite offers an indoor lounge area, separate bedroom and bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, elegant copper bathtub, and an outdoor private sala with a double day bed, sunken couch, private lunge pool, and wrap-around veranda – all of which immerses one deeper into the bush and the wonders of Mombo’s Private Traversing Area.

Between game drives you’ll find that Mombo Camp is a wonderful place to relax in luxury, surrounded by the tranquillity of the delta. Shaded by ebony and fig trees, this camp makes the most of its surroundings with an open-sided lounge, shaded daybeds and two plunge pools all overlooking a floodplain invariably dotted with game. Opt for a massage on your private deck or visit the small but well equipped outdoor gym to work off any twinges of guilt after all the delicious food.
